Abstract:
A new tool for developing interactive teaching material has emerged.
It is Sun Microsystems' object-oriented language JAVA.
Using JAVA it is possible to construct interactive text for
use as teaching materials.
This paper describes the facilities provided by JAVA
for image processing and the implementation of a few representative
operators from different classes which will operate within a Web-browser
environment, to explore the idea of ``interactive textbooks''.
